What are Adverbs? (¿Qué son los adverbios?)

Adverbs (los adverbios) are words that modify a verb, an adjective, another adverb, or an entire sentence. They provide additional details about how, when, where, or to what extent an action takes place.

📝 Example:

  • María canta bien. (María sings well.)
    • The adverb “bien” modifies the verb “canta” to describe how María sings.

Types of Adverbs in Spanish (Tipos de adverbios en español)

1️⃣ Adverbs of Manner (Adverbios de modo) – Explain how something happens.

  • Ejemplo: Él habla claramente. (He speaks clearly.)

2️⃣ Adverbs of Time (Adverbios de tiempo) – Indicate when an action happens.

  • Ejemplo: Llego mañana. (I arrive tomorrow.)

3️⃣ Adverbs of Place (Adverbios de lugar) – Indicate where an action happens.

  • Ejemplo: El perro está afuera. (The dog is outside.)

  • Muy hermoso. (Very beautiful.)

✔️ At the Beginning or End of a Sentence

  • Llegamos a tiempo, afortunadamente. (We arrived on time, fortunately.)
